About Bina
Bina Lefkovitz, has worked in various capacities in the youth and community development fields for the past 35 years.
Her expertise is in policy, program and partnership development, community and youth development.
Currently she consults with organizations on youth leadership, civic engagement and youth friendly mental health strategies. Her current projects include supporting the new Youth Behavioral Health Advisory Board established by the County Board of Supervisors, advising on ways to further diversify and build out pathways and pipelines into behavioral health careers.
Previous projects she worked on include: helping found City of Sacramento Summer At City Hall, coaching 4 cities around the state to create Governments Engaging Youth programs, advising the City Manager on the creation of the Neighborhood Services Department at the City.
As an educator she serves as part time faculty at CSUS teaching Freshman Seminar, and for the California School Boards Association Masters In Governance Program that trains school board members around the state in good governance practices.
From 1999-2010, Ms. Lefkovitz founded and co-directed a nonprofit, the Youth Development Network (YDN). Prior to 1999 Ms. Lefkovitz served as Special Projects Director to the Sacramento City Manager and also served as the Community Development Director for the Housing and Redevelopment Agency.
Ms. Lefkovitz has a B.A. from Tulane University and a Masters Degree from the LBJ School of Public Policy.
Ms Lefkovitz’s strengths are: responsibility, deliberative, achiever, connector and learner.
She has served as President of the Sacramento County Board of Education, Past President of Congregation B’nai Israel’s Board of Directors, Chairperson of the Sacramento County Children’s Coalition, Chairperson of the Bret Harte School Site Council, a leader with Area Congregations Together, advocating to improve education, member of Sacramento City Unified School District Civic Seal, Social and Emotional Learning and Graduate Profile committees. In her spare time, you will find her bike riding along the American River and in the foothills around Sacramento.
